The Blue Ridge Wildlife Center assists the native wildlife of Northern
Virginia and Northeastern West Virginia. We are a 501(c)3 charitable organization and do not charge for our services. We do not receive any local, state, or federal funding, so we are completely dependent on private donations. The services we offer include: -Wildlife Rescue and veterinary care of injured, orphaned and sick native wildlife with rehabilitation and release back to the wild. -Monitoring wildlife for environmental toxins and contagious diseases. -A wildlife hot line to call for helpful information and advice (540-837-9000). -Education programs about the valuable role of native wildlife in our environment. -Newsletters and website with information about wildlife issues and concerns. ![]() Every year we treat hundreds of animals that have been injured around our homes or on our roads. This sharp shinned hawk flew into a glass door and sustained a concussion and a broken wing. ![]() Some of the red foxes in our area are born with hydroencephaly. The cause is currently unknown. ![]() Electrocution injury in a red tailed hawk from a power line. Power poles can be modified to decrease this type of injury. |
